Student Welfare (Pastoral Provision)
Tutor Groups
Every day, your daughter will check in with her form tutor for her 20 minute tutor time session. A variety of activities take place during tutor time, including assemblies, mental health and wellbeing sessions and literacy and numeracy activities. Your daughter’s form tutor will stay with her throughout her time at Blackfen and will get to know your daughter well.
Year Groups and Key Stages
In Key Stage 3 (Years 7-9), each year group has a Student Support Officer and a Head of Year to support them. Year 10 and 11 have a Student Support Officer each and are additionally supported by Ms Woodhouse and Ms Hoad on the Senior Leadership Team. In Key Stage 5, the Sixth Form team is led by Ms Brewer, Assistant Headteacher.

Head of Year 8: Ms Rehling

Emotional Health and Wellbeing
At Blackfen we recognise that there are times when you may need extra support during difficult times and when experiencing challenging circumstances.
The Blackfen Pastoral Team are trained and experienced Student Support Officers, who are able to provide support and when needed, signposting students and parents/carers, to appropriate support agencies.
If you have concerns about your daughter (or son in post 16), please do get in touch with the relevant Student Support Officer via email or by phone by calling reception. You can also look at the Parents’ Advice Hub pages on the school website for information where there are lots of links to relevant resources and support. Many things can impact your child’s wellbeing and it’s important to let us know quickly if you have any concerns.
