It encourages learners to

Year 12

Students study three taught units:

Module 2: Foundations in Biology

Module 3: Exchange and transport including exchange surfaces

Module 4: Biodiversity, evolution and disease

Year 13

Students study two taught units:

Module 5: Communication, homeostasis and energy

Module 6: Genetics, evolution and ecosystems

Throughout year 12 and 13 students work on Module 1: Development of practical skills in Biology, this involves specified practicals which will be assessed whilst the practical is taking place as well as in their written examination.

How will I be assessed?

Paper 1: Biological Processes, 100 marks, 2hrs 15 minutes, written paper 37% of total A level

Paper 2: Biological Diversity, 100 marks, 2hrs 15 minutes, written paper 37% of total A level

Paper 3: Unified Biology, 70 marks, 1hr 30 minutes, written paper 26% of total A level

Practical endorsement in Biology: non exam assessment, reported separately.
