Year 12

Students study three taught units:

Module 2: Foundations in Chemistry

Module 3: Periodic table and energy

Module 4: Core organic Chemistry

Year 13

Students study two taught units:

Module 5: Physical chemistry and transition elements

Module 6: Organic chemistry and analysis

Throughout year 12 and 13 students work on Module 1: Development of practical skills in Chemistry, this involves specified practicals which will be assessed whilst the practical is taking place as well as in their written examination.

How will I be assessed?

Paper 1: Periodic table, elements and physical chemistry, 100 marks, 2hrs 15 minutes, written paper 37% of total A level

Paper 2: Synthesis and analytical techniques, 100 marks, 2hrs 15 minutes, written paper 37% of total A level

Paper 3: Unified Chemistry, 70 marks, 1hr 30 minutes, written paper 26% of total A level

Practical endorsement in Chemistry: non exam assessment, reported separately
