SEND at Blackfen
Blackfen strives to give every student the opportunity to fulfil their potential, and students with special needs have a wide network of support throughout the school. We have an inclusive culture and expect all our students to have a rich, fulfilling and challenging educational and extra-curricular experience. Blackfen School for Girls ensures all pupils have the opportunity to learn alongside their peers in mainstream classes.
We have a specialist Resource Provision for up to 20 learners with Speech Language and Communication Needs called Jigsaw. All pupils in Jigsaw must have an EHCP and the Resource Provision named in their EHCP. Admission is agreed with the LA. This provision caters for students who need a more individualised curriculum, personalised pathway and approach.
Our Phoenix programme is in place for some KS4 learners who may require additional social, emotional and well-being support in order to access all aspects of the curriculum. This is overseen by the KS4 curriculum team, supported by the SENDCOs.
For more information regarding SEND provision, please contact the SEND team via the admin@blackfen.bexley.sch.uk address and include SEND in the subject heading.
Our SENDCOs are Ms McCauley and Mr Padial-Romero.
