Science Key Stage 4 Yr 9 & 10

Science at Year 9 and 10

Science matters. That’s why we’ve built the most inclusive GCSE (9–1) courses, so every

student can enjoy science and succeed in their studies.

During science lessons in Year 9 and 10, students are provided with a taste of all of these aspects of science, whatever course they are studying. Students learn in a variety of ways including debate, practical investigations, presentations and role play. The science qualifications on offer at Blackfen School for Girls enable students to engage with science and understand scientific issues that affect society.  

In Year 9 the GCSE course is split into 3 years and students will take their exams at the end of Year 11 in 2019. In Year 10 the GCSE course is split into 2 years and the student will take their exams at the end of Year 11 in 2018. This new GCSE course will give students a qualification which is graded 9 (being the highest) to 1 (being the lowest)
