Blackfen School for Girls

Raising aspirations - releasing potential

Blackfen School for Girls KS3 team wins first place at the first stage of the Level 2 School Games Dance Competition.

On Tuesday 24th January 2016, Blackfen School for Girls took part in the first stage of the Level 2 School Games Dance Competition that was held at St Catharine’s school in Bexleyheath.

28 students ranging from Years 7-10 attended the competition and performed two fantastic Dance pieces.

The first piece performed was the KS3 piece that explored the conflict between good and evil. The dynamic content used throughout the piece showcased the decision process in which we make in our everyday lives; to tell white lies or to tell the truth, something quite relevant to the girls.

The second piece was performed by 7 of the Year 10 BTEC Dance students. Using choreography performed for their Unit 4 exam they created a classical contemporary piece called ‘Face to Face.’  The piece was influenced by the fears faced growing up through life and how you can overcome these; will you experience adventure or be limited by the fear of it?

The school will go on to represent the Borough of Bexley at the next stage of the competition which will be held at the Copper Box Area in the Olympic Village in London.

Overall the event was a fantastic opportunity for our school to be involved in.

Well done to all those who attended.  Good luck for the next stage.
